Artist Statement
I love what I do; it’s taken me many years to find what works and what doesn’t. I’m still learning, and hope never to stop. To keep my work fresh with shape and design I hang out with my dogs outside a lot. Nature answers any questions I might have. Smoke and pit firing my vessels has brought out the best in my work and in myself; leaving the perfectionist side of me out of my art has made it blossom. Unpredictability with explosions, cracks, and no colour has kept me trying new salts, oxides, woods, and a variety of other things. I picked this art form for many reasons, one of which is having fire respond directly to the vessels and letting the earth, air, fire, and water speak for itself.
